ABOUT LET US EAT, PLEASE
Let Us Eat, Please was founded by the late James L. Cooper when he learned from his daughter, a teacher, about our New Jersey children who regularly attended school hungry. Jim, who had already devoted much of his time advocating for community, civil rights, and philanthropic causes, formed ‘Let Us Eat – Please’ just after his 82nd birthday. Cooper Levenson, Attorneys at Law is grateful and pleased to be in a position to continue the work of ‘Let Us Eat – Please’ in memory and honor of its founding partner.
Starting with just one school district, the ‘Let Us Eat – Please’ program has expanded each year to include additional area districts. Every two weeks over the course of summer, families, identified by the school as needing assistance, receive a 30-pound box of groceries, valued at more than $50, at no cost to them. Currently, 1 in 5 children in South Jersey face hunger, and sadly Atlantic County has the highest rates of overall (11.2%) and child food insecurity (14.8%) in the state.
ABOUT THE COMMUNITY FOODBANK OF NEW JERSEY
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ), a member of Feeding America®, is the leading anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization in the state. What started as a modest enterprise in the back of our founder Kathleen DiChiara’s station wagon in downtown Newark in 1975, became an incorporated non-profit in 1982 and has grown to two warehouse facilities in Hillside and Egg Harbor Township, the combined size of five football fields. These locations serve area programs and community partners – over 800 in 15 of 21 New Jersey counties.
Please join us in our fight against hunger by attending this year's Captain's Table at the Discover Boating Atlantic City Boat Show, in partnership with Progressive Insurance or make a donation of any size to help those in need.
