2018 Business and Community Leaders Award Dinner
The Greater Atlantic City Chamber is proud to announce that Lori Herndon, president and CEO of AtlantiCare, a member of Geisinger, is the 2018 Redenia Gilliam-Mosee Award Business Leader of the Year recipient and Vince Maione, recently retired region president of Atlantic City Electric, is the 2018 John G. Fitzpatrick Community Leader of The Year recipient. The two will be honored at its Annual Awards ceremony on June 27, 2018 at The Golden Nugget.
Each year, the Chamber celebrates the most dynamic and influential individuals in our community since the mid-1960’s who with loyalty and dedication work for community betterment. A selection committee composed of past recipients selects the honorees.
“The Greater Atlantic City Chamber is thrilled to honor these two inspiring individuals for their unwavering dedication to making our communities more vibrant and thrive,” said Greater Atlantic City Chamber Chairman of the Board, Charles Wimberg.
Lori Herndon joined AtlantiCare in 1983 as a staff nurse in AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and has served in executive roles for the system since 2007. As president and chief executive officer of AtlantiCare, a member of Geisinger, she is responsible for creating and implementing strategies across AtlantiCare’s system that meets customers’ needs and delivers on the promise of exceptional quality, experience, and outcomes. With more than 5,500 employees, she guides AtlantiCare’s transformation of health and care to the communities they serve through innovation, technology, and growth.
“AtlantiCare has a long history in this region, and I am proud to be a part of it,” said Herndon. “I share this award with every AtlantiCare employee who comes to work every day hopeful and passionate. I believe that together we make a real difference in our community.”
Under her hospital leadership, ARMC became the 105th hospital in the nation to attain status as a Magnet® designated hospital and was twice re-designated; AtlantiCare was named a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Recipient; and AtlantiCare was included in Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare 2010.
Vince Maione previously served as region president of Atlantic City Electric, a public utility owned by Exelon Corporation that serves approximately 550,000 customers in southern New Jersey. Maione began his career in 1984 with Atlantic City Electric in the company’s Commercial & Industrial Marketing Department. He has held various supervisory and management positions within the company throughout his career including Distribution/Transmission Engineering, Field Operations and Project Management. He is a founding Board member of “Choose New Jersey” a nonprofit corporation created by New Jersey business leaders to promote the state in the global market. Maione retired April 1, 2018 after 33 years of service.
“I am extremely proud and humbled to be recognized as a community leader. I am an admirer of the great work that the Greater Atlantic City Chamber does in our communities, making this recognition all the more special,” said Maione. “Atlantic City Electric strives to be a good corporate citizen through annually supporting hundreds of organizations through philanthropic efforts and volunteerism, and assisting organizations that provide essential services for local residents.”
Under Maione’s leadership, Atlantic City Electric annually made significant contributions to nearly 300 South Jersey organizations. Atlantic City Electric’s charitable contributions assist organizations that support education, the environment, arts and culture, and community development programs. In 2017 alone, Atlantic City Electric contributed more than $1 million to local nonprofits, while more than 240 employees dedicated about 14,200 hours of volunteer work.
