MAYS LANDING, NJ [August 19, 2026] – The Atlantic County Institute of Technology (ACIT) proudly announces the promotions of two accomplished educational leaders as Joseph Potkay advances from Principal to Assistant Superintendent and Brian Rovani, formerly Senior Class Assistant Principal, becomes Principal, reinforcing ACIT's commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student success.
Together, Potkay and Rovani bring more than 50 years of combined experience in public education and nearly four decades of service to ACIT. Their leadership expands opportunities for students, strengthens partnerships with local employers, and advances career and technical education throughout Atlantic County. As demand grows for a highly skilled workforce, they will continue to position ACIT students for success in college, careers, military service, and beyond.
"Joe and Brian lead with integrity, vision, and an unwavering commitment to our students," said ACIT Superintendent Philip Guenther. "They shape ACIT into one of New Jersey's premier career and technical schools by creating opportunities for students to thrive, supporting our outstanding faculty and staff, and building strong relationships throughout our community. Their promotions recognize years of exceptional leadership and position ACIT for an even stronger future."
Potkay enters his 27th year in public education. As Principal, he championed the expansion of ACIT's career and technical education programs, strengthened work-based learning partnerships with local employers, and guided the opening of the school's state-of-the-art Career and Technical Education building. As Assistant Superintendent, he will help lead districtwide initiatives that expand educational opportunities and support continued growth across the district.
Rovani enters his 24th year in education and his 15th year at ACIT. Throughout his career, he has built meaningful relationships with students, families, faculty, and staff while promoting academic achievement, accountability, and student engagement. As Principal, he will lead the school's daily operations and continue advancing programs that prepare students to excel in the classroom and the workforce.
Both appointments take effect at the start of the 2026-27 school year. Potkay and Rovani will lead a school of 19 career and technical programs, a newly opened Career and Technical Education building, and a growing roster of work-based learning partnerships with Atlantic County employers.
